Perhaps in three years it will be impossible to imagine a game designer who does not understand blockchain or any other cool recent technology. Now I would advise everyone to study not only game design itself, but also monetization, game economics, user acquisition. I have a degree in economics, and when I got the job, the whole free-to-play model was just starting. During the interview they were asking if I knew more high-end stuff, and I said “Yeah, yeah, sure” and then I started studying really, really fast. I had done some modding before, like really amateur stuff. ![]() At the same time, I saw a position at Gameloft. I really wanted to develop AIs that played poker and I wanted to get rich that way.
